AFRICA. ES EXHIBITION IN ABUJA: EMEKA OKEREKE AND 6 MORE EXHIBITS...
The Africa.Es exhibition is a result of a commissioned project by the Spanish ministry of culture. In August 2010, 7 photographers were invited to create works in equally 7 cities of Spain in the spirit of an African/Spanish exchange of view. The photographers and the respective cities include: Emeka Okereke (Nigeria): Madrid; Nii Obudai (Ghana): Valladolid; Arturo Bibang (Equitorial Guinea): Valencia; Zanele Muholi (south Africa): Las Palmas; Mamadou Gomis (Senegal): Bilbao; Patrick Wokemeni (Cameroun): Seville and Mohamed Konate (Mali): Barcelona.

The grand opening took place in Madrid on the 15th of February 2011, at 8pm in the presence of all participating artists. It ran until the 3rd of March 2011. Now, the exhibition comes to Abuja, Nigeria at the Archive House premises, courtesy of the Spanish Embassy.

As a complementary activity to the exhibition, the Embassy of Spain is organising a photographer’s workshop/get together, which will be led by Emeka Okereke and a Spanish Photographer Alfrédo Bricio. The purpose of this workshop is to exchange and share ideas, to take pictures together and to explore different points of view in the field of photography.
